I take it that you're asking how to utilise Windows eight.i as a vSpace Server host for multiple nComputing L300 clients? If and then, the short answer is - you don't.

The event is that when you're using a desktop version of Windows (Vista/7/viii/8.1), the licensing only allows ane user to exist using the OS at a time. If you try setting up a single instance of Windows 8.1, and the connecting multiple nComputing devices to it so that each user has their own session, that is technically a violation of the licensing for those OSs.

Instead, y'all should be using either Windows Server or Windows MultiPoint Server. Not only do those OSs have licensing that permits multiple users to utilize the same Bone case at the aforementioned time (provided you accept the appropriate corporeality of RDS or WMS CALs), but those OSs are more often than not much better suited to handle the load of many sessions being ran at one time (In fact, MultiPoint server is designed specifically for that utilise). You tin can customize and tweak both OSs to behave similarly to their desktop counterparts, giving the end users the same experience every bit if they were using Windows eight/seven.

Besides, having done pilots using nComputing L230s and L300s before - don't bother wasting your time trying to email their support, and just call their back up number instead. When nosotros were doing trials of computer labs, we've tried emailing them several times, and on each occasion, information technology took several days (occasionally over a calendar week) to get a response, and the response was simply "please call us to troubleshoot this issue".

Not that you're technically wrong, only I think yous're missing the point and the question.  Regardless of licencing issues, why does vSpace and the L300s work then well with Win 7 and Win viii, but still not run on Win 8.1?  I have 20 some L300s at work, with Win Server 2008 and legit licenses, but when the computer's downwardly I run 10 or 12 at a time from Windows 7 as a backup.  But I wanted to use a single L300 at abode just VSpace won't install with Win 8.1?

Question #1) vSpace 7 is for Server 2012 which volition run Window 8, however, it will not run viii.ane

From what I have heard from NComputing is that vSpace 8 is supposed to come out in the next few weeks that will support both Server 2012R2 and 8.1

Questions #2) VLC should work with the L300s. Take you gone through NComputing's Windows Tuning Guide?

NComputing was not bad until Microsoft got wind of how they were "circumventing" the OS license :-(  I haven't used them since.

The Microsoft licensing piece is still nifty for EDU and not-profit. However, it is horrible for enterprise customers.

I can only advise you to scrap your L300.  Ncomputing has been announcing the back up for eight.1 for more than a year now and cipher came out of it. You don't fifty-fifty get a reply from their support.

As skilful as they were 3 years ago, nowadys these devices are only junk and not worth the money.

Meanwhile, get a cheap Android device, install the gratis of charge MS Remote Desktop, connect to your Win 8.1 PC and your are skillful to go. Smooth video, audio, graphics,  way better than with a L300.
